Organisations that provide care and support services in the borough are holding events during the first ten days of October, to coincide with International Older People’s Day.
Each event will celebrate the ‘five ways to wellbeing’: Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give, and will be themed around learning and using technology or staying independent within the community.
Events are free, but you are recommended to check if you need to book to secure your place. There are more than 30 events including workshops, coffee mornings, lunches, singing, community days, trips out and open days.
The Fair will also include the popular Silver Sunday Tea Dance at the Wandsworth Civic Suite on October 2. As well as the chance to enjoy a dance and meet new people, there are refreshments, art classes and workshops.
Cabinet member for health Cllr Graeme Henderson said: “I’d like to thank all the organisations that have come forward to take part in the Brighter Living Fair. It’s a great way to let people know about the support available to them to stay independent in their own homes and remain an active and connected member of our community.”
