How benefits have been calculated
If any information is incorrect you have a duty to inform us immediately.
The 'Net Income' figure stated is your actual household income:
- Less tax and national insurance where appropriate
- Less any disregarded income (for example Child Benefit)
- Less any standard disregards (for example earned income disregard)
- Less any allowable expenses (for example child care costs)
- Including any tariff income (figure based on the level of capital / savings you have)

If any information is incorrect you have a duty to inform us immediately.
If you are in receipt of one of the following your income may be displayed as £0.00:
- Jobseekers Allowance (income based)
- Employment & Support Allowance (income related)
- Income Support
- Guaranteed Pension Credit.
The income figures are net of any tax and national insurance only. Childcare costs and other expenses may be listed but will be deducted from your income where appropriate.
The amount of any capital you have is not included, but can be checked and confirmed from your most recent benefit notification letter.
Household details
Your household can be made up of the following:
- Claimant: This is the person who is claiming benefit.
- Partner: This means the other member of a couple.
- Dependent: Children and young people who are members of the household and for whom the claimant is responsible.
- Non dependant: Non dependants are other adults living in the household, such as adult sons and daughters. A non dependant deduction may be made from your benefits according to the individual's income.
- Boarders: This is someone who lives with you on a commercial basis and pays rent which includes an amount for meals.
- Sub tenants: This is someone who lives with you on a commercial basis and where the rent does not include an amount for meals.
