About the Year 6 test
Some Wandsworth secondary schools use partial-selection or fair banding as part of their admission criteria. The Year 6 admissions test is designed to provide these schools with the data they need to make offer decisions. The test data is also useful to provide contextual information for Wandsworth primary schools.
We are now accepting late test registrations for children starting secondary school in 2025.
All children applying for Ashcroft Technology Academy, Burntwood School, Chestnut Grove Academy or Graveney School must be registered to be invited to take the test.
If your child has an EHCP, they do not have to take the test. If your child receives SEN support, view the test structure for more information.
Registration
You must register your child for the test if you are considering applying for any place at Ashcroft Technology Academy or Chestnut Grove Academy or a selective place at Burntwood School or Graveney School. If you are not considering applying for a place at one or more of these schools, there is no need for your child to sit the test.
Ensure that the email address you provide is the same one you will use on the eAdmissions website to apply for schools and is a personal address you can monitor on the weekend in case we need to update you urgently.
Registration for the late test in December is now open until 11 November 2024.
Test invitations
If you registered for the late test by the 11 November closing date, we will write to you by email with details of where and when your child will take the test. Note that the test venue will not necessarily be a school you are considering applying to. Invitations will be emailed by Monday 25 November 2024.
Please be aware that the December dates will be the last time the test is available.
Test dates
The test will be held over four days during term time – Thursday 5, Friday 6, Saturday 7 and Monday 9 December – at a secondary school test venue. As far as possible pupils from the same primary school will sit the test on the same day and at the same test venue.
You must ensure that your child can take the test on the set date. It will not be possible for an alternative date to be arranged.
Results
If your child took the test in September, you will be notified by email of your child's test results on or before 23 October 2024.
If your child takes the test in December, you will be notified by email of your child's test results before Christmas.
