Small electricals recycling
You can now recycle your unwanted or broken small electrical items.
Ways to recycle
We offer both a collection and recycling bank service for electrical items.
If you put your rubbish out for collection in black sacks and council recycling sacks, you can leave your small electricals out for collection as well. This started on Monday 10 June 2024, on your normal collection day.
You can also recycle your small electricals at new recycling banks across the borough.
What you can recycle
You can recycle the following small electricals:
- Blender
- Bread maker
- Cables
- Cameras
- Chargers
- Compact vacuum cleaner
- Computer keyboards
- DVD and VHS recorders
- Electric kettle
- Electric toothbrush
- Electrical tools
- Electrical toys
- Hairdryers
- Irons
- Mobile phones (erase any data first)
- Personal grooming appliance
- Radios
- Small coffee machines
- Small laptops (erase any data first)
- Small toasters (two slice)
- Tablets (erase any data first)
Recycle batteries, vapes and lightbulbs elsewhere. Visit Recycle Your Electricals to find where to recycle these items, as well all your local drop-off points.
Dimensions
You can recycle small electrical items that are no larger than 25cm (length) x 25cm (width) x 25cm (height).
You can use a plastic bag to put your small electricals in, if you have one, especially if you need to contain any leads.

Using a recycling bank
Recycling banks are available in many locations.
The new banks allow local residents to bring unwanted or broken small electrical appliances and drop them off for recycling.

How to leave items out
Small electricals are collected weekly.
Make sure your items are available for collection along with your rubbish, recycling and food waste. They can be placed by the front entrance of your property along with any clear recycling sacks and/or rubbish.
You can use a plastic bag to put your small electricals in, if you have one, especially if you need to contain any leads.
