Mega Skip Days

Mega Skip Days are an opportunity for people to dispose of bulky items for free.

Large skips are placed in neighbourhoods around the borough for all local residents to use. We are now running Mega Skip Days twice a month after figures showed they helped lead to a 16% reduction in fly-tipping.

We will not tolerate any aggressive or abusive behaviour directed towards our staff, so please be courteous to our staff when dropping off unwanted items.

Items for reuse

Collect 4 Reuse will be at some of our skips to take away reusable items and refurbish them. They then give these items back to the community.

The items they collect include:

  • Bicycles - all types, including foldable and e-bikes
  • Sports equipment - things like football and racquet sport accessories, scooters, and roller-skates
  • Furniture - good quality and complete
  • Homeware - such as bric-a-brac and cooking utensils
  • Medical equipment - including crutches, sticks, and wheelchairs
  • Electronics - lots of items, like TVs, DVD players, home audio, and computers
  • Musical instruments - keyboards, guitars, drums, and others
  • Clothes

This isn't a complete list. If Collect 4 Reuse see items that are worth saving, they'll take them away and get them back into use.

Other ways to dispose of large items

If you miss the Mega Skip Days and want us to collect your bulky items you can book a bulky waste collection.

Also, you may want to consider donating or selling your items if they are in good condition.
