Using orange-lidded communal recycling banks
If you are using large, communal bins for your rubbish, you should also have an orange-lidded bank nearby for recycling certain materials.
Rinse any food remains from containers before recycling.
Please help to keep your communal grounds tidy and recycle what you can.
Do:
- Check what to put in your orange-lidded recycling bank
- Put recycling in the orange-lidded banks, not around them
- Rinse food remains from containers
- Flatten cardboard boxes
- Contact us to report any related issues
Do not:
- Leave anything on the ground by the recycling banks
- Use these recycling banks for commercial recycling
- Park cars so that they obstruct recycling vehicles
We no longer provide re-usable orange recycling bags. Please use any container or carrier bags to store your mixed recycling and carry it to your nearest communal orange-lidded recycling bank. However, recyclables deposited in the bank must be loose or in clear transparent sacks (no carrier bags, black refuse or white kitchen sacks).
Request orange-lidded recycling banks
If you use large, communal bins for your rubbish and don't have an orange-lidded recycling bank close to your home, you should ask the premise manager to hire or purchase one or contact us with their details.
We can supply orange-lidded recycling banks in two sizes: 1280 litres (for up to 18 flats) or 660 litres (for up to 9 flats).
Before installation, we may need to check that the ground surface and access for collection vehicles is suitable.
Buy clear recycling sacks for blocks with waste porterage services
We only supply single-use, clear recycling sacks to premises using orange-lidded recycling banks where a waste porterage service is provided. This enables porters to collect both waste and recycling from individual flats and deposit the clear sacks in the orange-lidded recycling bank on their behalf. Premise managers can buy clear recycling sacks at a cost of £80.70 for 10 packs (30 rolls). This price includes delivery and is valid until 31 March 2025.
To buy clear recycling sacks email communalbins@wandsworth.gov.uk or call the Contract Liaison Officer on 020 8871 6384 .
Request charity textile recycling banks
If there is space, the premise manager can also request a charity textile recycling bank. These can be provided by:
