About Oasis green space - Thessaly Road

This green space is next to the Yvonne Carr Centre at the top of Thessaly Road. The site covers an area of approximately 3,100m2 with a landscape of largely flat open space surrounded by a series of earth mounds and mature trees at around the site edges.

After years of being unkept, gated and locked, the site is being opened for community use, starting with a renewal project and engagement with local residents to shape its future.

Oasis Open Day

Local residents had the first chance to visit and explore the newly cleared site on the Oasis Open Day on Saturday 8 June. The event was a great success, with opportunities for members of the community to share their memories, ideas and aspirations for the site through a range of interactive activities.

Happy Streets Festival 

There were further opportunities to get involved at the Happy Streets Festival on Saturday 6 July with free activities, performances, wellbeing taster sessions and tasty refreshments. Members of the community were invited to share their experiences of local green spaces, and their ideas for the Oasis site.

Survey

An online survey running through June and July offered an opportunity for even more people to have their say, and gathered valuable and diverse ideas about the potential of the site. 

Next steps

We invited participants to share their details if they wished to be included in future discussions. We will be holding the first workshop in September, where we will be reviewing ideas gathered so far and identifying priorities and potential activities to be delivered in this important green space.

Gates

The main gate is located on an access road behind Wandsworth Road, SW8.

A second gate is also located on Thessaly Road.
