The safety and security of residents who have had to leave their homes is our top priority. We ensured everyone who had to evacuate had a place to stay, including through council-arranged emergency accommodation. We will continue to work closely with residents to ensure they have appropriate arrangements in place at this difficult time.

A support hub at York Gardens Library has been set up with council teams in place to support residents.

Donation guidance

We appreciate the community concern and understand people want to help their neighbours, but please refrain from donating clothing and other items as everything is being coordinated through the council so that we can ensure residents get the support they need.  We are aware that local fundraising is taking place which residents wishing to donate can consider.

Residents in need of support can visit the hub at York Gardens library.

Further update – Friday 12 September

Following the fire, a support hub was set up at York Gardens Library which is operating from 8am to 10pm with officers there to support residents.  All residents have been issued with e-vouchers so that they can purchase essentials, including food. Families have also been provided with basic supplies, laptops, mobile phones and phone chargers through the Council’s partnership with ‘Power to Connect’.

All residents have been sent e-vouchers that cover the weekend period. We have put in place a back up process if vouchers. We are also issuing school uniform vouchers to families affected with school age children

A dedicated hotline number and email have been set up for affected residents to contact the council quickly and easily.

Housing officers worked throughout the evening to secure overnight accommodation for those who needed it.

We are continuing to work with health partners on trauma support and resident’s main contact for medication, health advice and mental health support are their GPs. The local GP practices have been informed.

We continue to liaise with the London Fire Brigade.
