National Fitness Day on September 18 is a celebration of health and fitness that raises awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

The theme for 2024 is “Your Health is for Life” with the message that exercise is not just about one day - it is about keeping fit for life.

Earlier this year Wandsworth Council launched an ambitious Access for All scheme aimed at breaking down barriers and ensuring better access to opportunities for all residents.

The comprehensive scheme will help tackle disparities in access to sports, leisure, and other essential services, ensuring Wandsworth becomes a fairer borough for everyone.

Leader of the Council Simon Hogg is encouraging people to find out about activities taking place across the borough to celebrate the day.

“We want every resident to benefit from the opportunities that make Wandsworth such a great place to live, work and play in. That’s why we launched our Access for All scheme to make sure everyone can make the most of what is on offer.

This National Fitness Day we are lucky that Wandsworth has so many fantastic leisure centres, sports centres, parks, gyms and other facilities to help people get fit and active.”
