The 10x10 guide introduces ten fun, accessible and low-cost (or free) activities for children to enjoy before the age of ten, from trying a new sport, to joining a youth club or discovering what’s on at their local library.

Building on this, the 10xTeen programme offers even more exciting opportunities for older children and teenagers, from creative workshops and sports sessions to volunteering and youth leadership projects, helping them develop new skills, make connections and have fun close to home.

Every activity has been designed to be inclusive and accessible, ensuring all young people, including those with additional needs, can take part and find something they love.

Judi Gasser, Cabinet Member for Children, said: “Play is vital to children’s health, happiness and development. It helps them grow in confidence, build friendships and feel connected to where they live.

“The 10x10 and 10xTeen guides are all about making play accessible to everyone. By bringing together free and inclusive activities across Wandsworth, we’re helping families discover just how many fantastic opportunities there are right on their doorstep."

Children and teenagers who complete all ten activities can proudly collect a certificate celebrating their achievements and adventures across the borough.

The guides were unveiled at Kimber Skatepark, a council-run youth service and one of the many free play spaces featured in them.

Children and young people came together to celebrate through games, skateboarding, and hands-on activities, joined by councillors, local organisations and community partners.

Developed as part of the council’s Play Strategy, the guides work towards making Wandsworth the best place to grow up, where every child and young person has the opportunity to play, be active and feel part of their community.

Kwasi Agyekum-Koranchie, Wandsworth’s Youth Mayor, added: “The 10x10 and 10xTeen guides are such a great idea. They show just how many fun and free things there are to do in Wandsworth.

“It’s so important that young people have spaces where they can be active, creative and connect with others. I hope everyone gets out and tries something new!”

Sophia Dyson, Deputy Youth Mayor, said: “These guides make it easy for young people to get involved, try new things and have fun close to home. It’s great to see Wandsworth celebrating play and creativity for everyone.”

Giorgio, who attended the launch, said: “I loved today! I didn’t know there were so many fun things to do in Wandsworth. I can’t wait to try everything in the guide, especially skateboarding and the adventure playgrounds!”

The 10x10 and 10xTeen guides were created in collaboration with local children and young people, who helped shape the activities and design. The council worked with partners across libraries, leisure centres, youth services, and community organisations to make sure every child can find something that inspires them.

The guides are available online at Play Commonplace, and printed copies will be shared through schools, Family Hubs, libraries, leisure and youth centres.
