At over 3,000 sq m, the Oasis green space is next to the Yvonne Carr centre and family hub on Thessaly Road, opposite Carey Gardens housing co-operative.
Over the years the site has had various community uses but recently it has been in a poor state of repair with regular fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour.
Now we want the whole local community to help shape the future of the site so we can invest funding collected from local developers to make it a better space for everyone to enjoy.
Simon Hogg, Leader of Wandsworth Council said: “This incredible green space has languished here for too many years behind locked gates, so we can’t wait to open it up for people who live here to enjoy.”
Local residents and families in the area are invited to come along to explore the green space for the first time on Oasis Day, Saturday 8 June. The gates are open from 12noon-4pm, with family activities and engagement to hear about the history of the site and what people want to see there in future.
If you can’t make it along on Saturday 8 June, there will be another chance to give us your ideas at Happy Streets Festival on 6 July, or take part in our online survey at any time.
