And he said extra resources were in place to support domestic abuse victims, keep local people safe and tackle anti-social behaviour.
At the latest community drop-in event, residents and families came along to Wandle Leisure Centre to speak face-to-face with Councillor Simon Hogg who was joined by MP for Putney Fleur Anderson and local councillors.
Council staff and local police representatives were also on hand to advise people on issues including community safety, improving public spaces and housing concerns.
And residents were given more information about improvements to rubbish and recycling collections, including new schemes to collect and recycle food waste and small electricals.
As part of the council’s decade of renewal across the borough, people living in the Wandsworth Town and East Putney areas made suggestions for Neighbourhood Renewal Fund projects such as pedestrian crossings and facilities for cyclists which would improve the neighbourhood and also build local pride.
Simon Hogg said: “I really enjoyed meeting residents from the Wandsworth Town and East Putney areas and hearing about what really matters to them. We’re working hard to make changes that will improve local people’s lives and build greater pride in our neighbourhoods, so I’d like to thank all those residents who took time out of their busy Saturdays to tell us where things could be improved.”
