The event, held on Saturday 15 March, was one of a series of drop-ins that happen monthly around the borough. Here you can discuss important topics, receive advice and support, find out more about Council services, plans for your local area, or share ideas for how to improve your neighbourhood.

Along with the Council Leader, you may also be able to talk to your ward councillors or and local MP, as well as representatives from Citizens Advice, the Police and various other services over hot drinks and refreshments.

This is all part of our Listening Council promise—modern, open, and working for you. This includes the new 7 rings, 7 days guarantee, which means calls to the council’s dedicated 0208 871 6000 number will be answered by a member of staff within 7 rings. A new email address of hello@wandsworth.gov.uk is also available for residents to get in touch.

Residents heard from council officers about the Atheldene Housing regeneration scheme, which includes 113 new Council rent homes and a new three storey health centre, as well as the Swaffield Pocket Park, which would include space to play as well as a new path, sustainable planting, benches and bins.

Residents also had the opportunity to speak on a number of issues which mattered to them, including cost of living support, community safety and fly tipping.  Simon Hogg talked about ways the council has improved community safety, including scaling up our CCTV network of over 1000 cameras, which has already helped prevent and solve major crimes. New CCTV cameras have also been placed in fly tipping hotspots in order to keep our streets clean, and the council has introduced two free bulky waste collections per resident per year. The council has also expanded our popular monthly mega skip days, and have increased the daily street sweeping schedules across the borough.

All of this has been achieved while freezing your Council Tax for the third year in a row. That means you will continue to pay the lowest Council Tax in the country.
