This festive season, the Mayor of Wandsworth, Sana Jafri, is calling on residents to help bring joy to refugee children who have resettled in our borough.

The Mayor is issuing an appeal to residents to purchase Amazon gift cards of £20 to £50 and send them to the Council by email to refugeegifts@wandsworth.gov.uk.

We will top up the public support for this to amplify the generosity of the community and ensure every refugee child gets a bit of extra help this Christmas. We will distribute the gift cards to all refugee children in the borough, ensuring each child gets £50. Any surplus donations will be distributed to local charities supporting refugees.

The Mayor said: "As a Borough of Sanctuary, Wandsworth has become a home for hundreds who have fled war and persecution. This Christmas, let’s show them how welcoming and supportive Wandsworth can be.

"Thank you to everyone who contributes to this initiative – together, we can make a difference."

Host families who have provided vital support and hospitality to Homes for Ukraine guests will also receive a support payment, to help with the increased costs over winter.
