Wandsworth Sustainable September 2025

A month of community action across September to tackle climate change and protect nature.

Sustainable September is a month celebrating and championing local sustainability initiatives in Wandsworth.

After a successful Sustainable September in 2024 we’re excited to make it easier for all residents across the borough to ‘act sustainably’ this September.

How to get involved

There are different ways you can get involved with Sustainable September and discover sustainable initiatives across the borough.

You can attend an event, run an event, or simply spread the word and encourage everyone in Wandsworth to get involved!

Complete our online form by Friday 15 August to register your event.

Running an event

Themes could include reuse and recycling, gardening, nature and biodiversity, sustainable creativity, climate justice, wellbeing, improving our green spaces, healthy diets, anti-idling, active travel, climate education, performing arts, sewing or conversation.

Venues could include pubs, schools and universities, gardens, riverbanks, rooftops, art studios, community centres, cultural landmarks, libraries, theatres, churches, local streets and parks.

Example projects could include a project to plant or re-wild a community space, a repair or reuse initiative, a sustainable street festival, a nature trail, an event to chat about climate action or an art and photography session celebrating our local environment. See last year’s full Sustainable September events programme for more ideas and inspiration for events.

Check out our sustainable events guide and what you could borrow from the Library of Things in the Southside Shopping Centre.

Microgrant funding

You can receive funding for your event or initiative through our Climate Action Microgrant scheme that offers funding of between £100 and £500 to support community groups, individuals, non-profits, and schools to run events promoting positive behaviours around climate change and sustainability.

Please apply before 25 July to receive funding for an event during Sustainable September. Events for Sustainable September will be prioritised in this funding round.
