Today is National Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Awareness Day and Wandsworth Council has helped to produce a support pack for residents concerned about a child at risk.

CSE Awareness Day aims to highlight the issues surrounding CSE, and to encourage everyone to think and speak out about it. It calls for a zero-tolerance approach to any inappropriate relationship between a child and adult, or between children.
Wandsworth is one of four partners collaborating on the pack, which has been developed in partnership with local parents, exploitation services, children’s safeguarding partnerships, public health teams and the Police Borough Command Unit.
It is primarily designed for parents whose children have experienced exploitation (or where they are concerned that they may be) either by their peers or by an adult. It is designed to help parents and carers reduce the risk of further exploitation, help them understand what is happening if it does and provides tips, helpful information and guidance to protect and support their child.
it can also be used as a useful reference guidance for professionals and support workers who provide support for parents and carers.
Areas covered include:
- What exploitation is and how it can happen
- Strategies for talking to children about exploitation
- Useful tips for preventing exploitation on-line
- What to do if a child goes missing
- Living and coping with exploitation
