Residents living close to where Glenburnie Road meets Gateside Road and Morven Road had expressed safety concerns about the location and excessive vehicle speeds.

In response the council has redesigned and remodelled the junctions to tackle those concerns.

Kerb buildouts have been introduced to slow motorists, while the pavement has also been widened with four trees planted to improve its appearance, along with double yellow lines to prevent parking close to the junction and to increase visibility.

The neighbourhood also boasts a number of nearby schools so the changes should make routes to and from these schools safer for children.

Wandsworth’s transport spokesman Cllr John Locker said: “We have listened to residents’ concerns and made changes at this junction which we believe will prove highly effective in curbing excessive vehicle speeds and improving safety for all road users and pedestrians.”
