Awards spotlight women in business

The winners have been announced of the first ever Wandsworth Enterprise Women's Awards.

The awards highlight some of the borough’s most ambitious and inspirational female business founders and were presented at today’s Women’s Enterprise Day – an annual celebration of the borough’s female entrepreneurs offering discussions, workshops and networking.  

Cabinet member for economic development, skills and employment, Cllr Rhodri Morgan, said: “This was the first ever Wandsworth Enterprise Women’s Awards and the judges were blown away by the talent of the people nominated.  

“It shows how lucky we are in Wandsworth to have such a vibrant business sector and so many exciting and innovative start ups. I would like to congratulate all the winners, and everyone who is nominated. We value all of you.” 

The winners were as follows:  

Rising Star 

This category recognises ambitious young women who are future trailblazers and an inspiration to the next generation. 

  • Winner - Maternal Serenity, Fatima Ali. Judges felt Fatima has shown great resilience in her business and her personality and values shine through her products.   
  • Runner-up - Muni Ltd, Almudena Navarro.   
  • Joint Highly Commended - Melanin Magic Club, Lauren McLean and CHA DONG, Cassandra Liu.  

 

Best Contribution to the Community – The People’s Choice

Recognising businesswomen who are making a substantial difference to the local Wandsworth community 

  • Winner - Lynne Capocciama – Estate Art. Based on the Alton Estate in Roehampton, Estate Art is a not-for-profit organisation that boosts the passion, positivity and potential of local people. 
  • Runner-up - Power to Connect – Isabel Chapman 
  • Highly commended - Black Heroes Foundation – Joyce Fraser 

 

Entrepreneur of the Year 

Recognising impactful and influential female business leaders. 

  • Winner - Bridgette Callaghan - Well Kneaded. Judges were impressed with what Well Kneaded have achieved, especially during the pandemic. They were able to adapt and even bought their own mill so they could mill their own flour.    
  • Runner-up - Marie Callan - URBAG Ltd 
  • Highly Commended - Celine Thompson - Jefferson’s
