People living in six Wandsworth streets have until February 9 to comment on cycle contraflows.

The contraflow systems have been set up in residential one-way streets across Wandsworth to offer cyclists shorter and safer routes through the borough.

They were brought in under experimental traffic orders which means they became operational on a trial basis while a parallel public consultation was held. This meant they could be carefully monitored while in operation, taking the views of local residents into account.

Anybody wishing to comment on the schemes must do so now. Any comments will be considered before a formal decision is taken by councillors on whether to make the schemes permanent.

The contraflow schemes are in:

• Bullen Street, Battersea – between Battersea Park Road and Shuttleworth Road.

• Cloudesdale Road, Balham – between Elmfield Road and Ritherdon Road.

• Keble Street, Tooting – between Garratt Lane and Wimbledon Road.

• North Passage, Putney – between Sudlow Road and Adelaide Road.

• Tonsley Hill, Wandsworth – between Tonsley Street and Tonsley Place.

• Rockland Road, Esmond Street and Winthrope Road, Putney between the junctions with Oxford Road.

Wandsworth has around 100 one-way streets and the soon-to-be-published Wandsworth Walking and Cycling Strategy proposes introducing contraflows on as many of them as possible by 2030. Read the draft strategy.
