We take fly-tipping very seriously and work hard to clamp down on those who think they can get away with dumping rubbish illegally.

Between 2020 to 2021 we issued nearly 5,150 fines for littering and fly-tipping offences.
Mega Skip Day will be coming back again soon to make it easier to dispose of your bulky waste.
And watch this space as we’ll be posting more about what we are doing to tackle fly-tipping on social media over the coming days. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to keep up to date.
Thanks to everyone who made use of our Mega Skips at the weekend. We are looking forward to the next one.
Councillor Steffi Sutters, Cabinet member for Community Services and Open Spaces says,
“Whilst it was great to see so many residents make use of our mega skips at the weekend, this initiative by itself won’t tackle fly-tipping overnight.
“Our enforcement team work hard to crack down on fly-tippers and litter louts. There are also lots more things we can do, and we’ll be sharing more about that over the coming days.
“We also need your help, as rubbish and litter is everyone’s responsibility.
“Please do the right thing with your rubbish. Don’t litter the streets, put your rubbish out correctly, recycle what you can and help report fly-tippers when you see them act illegally.”
Report fly-tip offenders
If you see someone dumping litter or fly-tipping, we need as much information as possible to help us prosecute the offenders:
- Tell us what you saw: where, when and a description of the fly-tip/incident, along with a description of anyone involved.
- A description and/or the name and addresses of the people involved and the actual location would also be helpful.
- Try and film or photograph the incident, ideally with a date and time stamp. But please don’t put yourself or others at risk. The higher res the picture, the better.
- We need to know what sort of rubbish has been dumped – the amount and type of waste e.g. a few bags of rubbish, a fridge or a sofa.
- If relevant make a note of the vehicle registration number and a description of the vehicle.
