Tree maintenance and reporting tree issues
We manage trees in streets, parks, housing estates, and schools.
Report issues with a tree
If you notice a tree that has been damaged, a tree has damaged your property, or caused damage to the highway please contact us and one of our tree officers will inspect the tree.
Please note that we are not responsible for the following:
- Seasonal changes, including leaves falling
- Shade or loss of light
- Damage to privately owned vegetation
Maintenance
Maintenance includes thinning the crown for light, reshaping or reducing the crown, removing low branches over footways or roads, and clearing dead, split, or hanging branches.
This also allows for pest and disease checks.
Surveys
We regularly inspect all trees in streets, parks and on housing estates.
- Street trees are inspected every 2 years
- Trees in parks or housing estates are checked every 3 years
Experienced inspectors carry out these assessments, determining if any work is urgent or non-urgent. They consider the overall health of the tree, including the condition and colour of the leaves, branches, upper crown, and trunk.
Based on this information, a work schedule is created. Sometimes this means a tree must be felled.
