Biodiversity

Biodiversity refers to the variety of life on Earth, encompassing differences in plant and animal species, genetics, habitats, and ecosystems.

This diversity is essential for maintaining a healthy environment, providing resources such as food, shelter, and medicine, and protecting us from the effects of climate change.

Parks and open spaces rich in wildlife are not only more enjoyable to visit but also contribute to our overall wellbeing.

Our commitment to biodiversity

We are dedicated to conserving biodiversity through various initiatives and actions. In 2001, the Biodiversity Partnership was established with the goal of producing action plans for the borough's wildlife.

Collaborating with the London Biodiversity Partnership, we prioritize contributing to their targets, including protecting species such as grey herons, peregrine falcons, and house sparrows, and conserving habitats like acid grassland.
