Home Delivery Library Service
The Home Delivery Library Service delivers books and other items to anyone who is housebound or has difficulty reaching a library on a regular basis.
The service can provide books and other library materials to you at home, including DVDs on request. To register, simply contact the service by phone or email. They will discuss the type of books and items you like, and use this as a guide for selecting your preferred library items. The service visits once a month, usually at the same time each visit. But you can also have the service only deliver occasionally instead, or on a temporary basis, if needed. You can borrow as my items as you like (as long as the service can carry them), and records are kept of what you have already borrowed so you don’t get a repeat delivery of the same items. The service can attempt to get hold of any items that are requested, including by using the inter-library lending service if needed. Many items can be delivered, including:
- Hardback, paperback and large print books
- Talking books on CDs and cassette
- Downloadable e-books and talking books
- Books in other languages, such as Asian languages African and Caribbean literature
- Music CDs
- Books on local history and reminiscence items
- Information services
