We have a package of employment support services. Through Work Match and partner schemes, hundreds of local people have already secured their jobs, apprenticeships or training.
This programme helps families and individuals on benefits or low incomes improve their long-term health and finances while building resilience and confidence through a highly effective cooking programme.
Bags of Taste changes people’s approach to food with its free two week programme. You can do the programme from home - all you need is a kitchen and a phone!
A free bag of ingredients for three delicious recipes (that make about seven portions) will be delivered to your door. You will be supported by a mentor, who will work with you over WhatsApp or phone while you cook in your own time.
There are no video calls or set times to cook - the course is designed for people with busy lives.
Most mentors are qualified nutritionists, so you will get exceptional support.
During the course you will get budget shopping and money saving tips, cooking advice, nutrition tips, tips for fussy eaters and diabetics and videos on how to make the recipes.
The Bags of Taste programme is for people receiving benefits or on low incomes.
Carney’s Community
Carney’s Community is a Battersea based charity, that uses a combination of group and one to one work to support some of the local community’s most disadvantaged groups, whilst also being open to mainstream groups. They do this by offering free boxing fitness sessions and youth club. Alongside this they offer those involved in the criminal justice system their core long term, intensive and unconditional one to one support with the aim of reducing offending, improving physical and emotional health and bridging the social divide, which is common in today’s society.

Room for Work
Based in Wandsworth, Room for Work is a prize-winning charity delivering a gold standard course for unemployed adults.
About the service
The programme is a free employability skills course, presented in 12 lessons, either online or in a live classroom, designed to help older skilled workers, those with experience ranging from administrative to managerial and professional.
Room for Work will equip you with current employability skills that enable your return to work. Our programme provides an active, participative learning experience through a series of presentations and workshops conducted by professionals with expertise in their respective fields. Tailored, one-to-one mentoring is provided for every course participant in one-hour meetings with the Course Leader.
There is also a social element. You will be with people who are in a similar situation as yourself, gaining confidence by knowing you are not alone in your situation, finding guidance and encouragement at Room for Work.
Several courses are available each term.
Eligibility
Room for Work can help if you are over 40 years old, have had a recent redundancy, are long-term unemployed (over one year) or you are returning to work after a career break as a parent or carer. It also serves retirees who don't have a critical path forward and wish to continue working.

Talk Wandsworth Employment Service
Talk Wandsworth is part of the Department of Health's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) initiative. The service is provided by South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust.
About the service
We offer access to a range of talking therapies for people with common mental health problems and everyday challenges. We provide treatments that are recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
Treatments include:
Our therapies, both group and individual, are provided either in our hub in Tooting Broadway, in GP surgeries and other community venues across the borough. We also offer individual therapy by audio-visual link (like Attend Anywhere or Microsoft Teams).
Employment support
We offer employment support through our dedicated Employment Team who can help people find employment and/ or help them retain their jobs if they are experiencing difficulties at work.
We offer a range of support and advice with the following:

- Job-searching activities
- Job applications
- Interview preparation
- Employer engagement
- Work-related welfare benefit concerns
- Support with Career Change
Our Employment Service also runs a 6-week programme namely ‘The Finding Work Course’ which is a group focused on maximising your job seeking potential. It is delivered by the employment team and run-in conjunction with local partners and service providers.
If you would like to receive employment support, then please ask your Therapist for a referral to the Employment team provided you are being offered additional therapeutic treatment by the service as the service is embedded within Talk Wandsworth and not stand alone.
Eligibility
Our service is available to anyone over the age of 18 who is living in Wandsworth or who has a Wandsworth GP.
We can help if you are experiencing anxiety or stress, depression, bereavement or loss, sleep difficulties, anger issues, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, eating disorders and many other everyday problems. When you contact the service by self-referral or by referral from your GP, you will be called and booked into a telephone assessment at a time that is convenient for you. This will help us understand your needs and to decide on the most appropriate treatment for you.

Wandsworth Lifelong Learning
The Wandsworth Lifelong Learning service (WCLL) is part of the Council’s Education Division in the Children’s Services Department.
About the service
Each year Wandsworth Lifelong Learning helps thousands of individuals to achieve their potential. It is responsible for a wide range of education/training activities and courses across the borough.
WCLL’s main areas of work include:
- An extensive programme of non-accredited Community Learning courses. Community Learning is delivered directly and through quality assured, commissioned providers
- Apprenticeships to young people and adults
- Accredited courses through the Greater London Authority (GLA) Adult Education Budget aligned to the local and London priorities, including provision of English, maths, ICT, ESOL, employability and vocational areas
- Supporting employed and unemployed adults with their training and employment goals; and
- Work experience and preparation for employment funded through the European Social Fund (ESF)
