Housing Community Champions
Housing Community Champions (HCCs) are the residents in our blocks or estates whose commitment and dedication to improving their neighbourhood has been formally recognised by us.
Our HCCs have been involved in a range of community activities and volunteering, in some cases over a considerable period of time including community gardening, involvement in local community groups, and fundraising for community projects. HCCs represent each part of the borough and receive support and funding for their ongoing and new projects throughout the year.
Benefits of being a Housing Community Champion
- You are presented with a badge of recognition by the Mayor of Wandsworth at an annual ceremonial event held each year.
- You can apply for funding. We have set aside funding to support individual community projects and initiatives. All HCCs can bid for money to support their specific projects on behalf of their estate or block.
- You are supported to continue to build on the good work and services you provide to your local area.
- You encourage wider resident participation (particularly in blocks and estates which are not represented by a residents' association).
Nominate or become a Housing Community Champion
We're always on the lookout for people of any age to become champions. If you know someone who is already volunteering for their community and would like to put them forward to be considered, or if you are interested in taking on new projects to help the community contact your Resident Participation Officer.
