Have your say on Block A development

As part of the Alton Renewal Plan, we are holding a drop-in event to view the proposals for the redevelopment of the former Co-op building, former council, police and youth club site.

This is an informal event so you are welcome to drop in at any time to:

  • Speak directly with the design team
  • Share your views, ideas and any concerns
  • Find out about the most recent designs

We are particularly keen to meet residents who live in, or near, Hersham Close.

Free origami butterfly making workshops

You are invited to come along to our free origami butterfly making workshops.

"If a butterfly could hear you, what would you say?"

  • Share a message of love, hope, memory, or reflection
  • Fold your own origami butterfly
  • Add your voice to a growing art installation

Growing community art installation

There will be a growing community art installation at Roehampton Family Hub, 166 Roehampton Lane SW15 4HR from Wednesday 28 May 2025.

A growing display of origami butterflies, each carrying a personal message from Roehampton residents, will take shape week by week - celebrating colour, compassion and connection.

Spreading the joy

You are invited to attend 'Spreading the Joy' - a professional show for children aged 3 to 8 years. The show is presented by Group 64 Theatre for Young People and tickets are free.

Taking place as part of Wandsworth Arts Fringe, Spreading the Joy will be performed on the following dates:

Wellness Weekender

Join us on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June for the next Wandsworth Wellness Weekender, a weekend packed with free activities to get families moving across the borough.

Whether you want to try your hand at badminton or rugby for beginners ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, this is the perfect opportunity to try new activities, meet other local families, and embrace a healthier lifestyle.

You can even get a free five-day pass at participating sport and leisure centres, so you can try everything on offer and see what suits you best.

Free cooking demonstrations

Why not come along to our free cooking demonstrations at Chantelle's Community Kitchen? 

The demonstrations offer an opportunity for attendees to learn some basic cooking skills and build your confidence in the kitchen. We will be offering free recipe cards and ingredients to try cooking at home.

Dragon Tales activity afternoon

You are invited to come along and join the fun at Dragon Tales activity afternoon. The collection of free activities on offer include crafts, dance, music and more.

The free after-school activities are most suitable for children aged 4 to 8 years. Parents or carers are also encouraged to come along and take part in our activities. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants will be offered a free snack and all materials needed for the activities will be provided.

The Dragon Wagon

Jellyfish Theatre presents The Dragon Wagon, a free outdoor family theatre show.

The show is suitable for children aged 4 to 8 years but everyone is welcome. Please bring a blanket to sit on.

Each performance will last around 45 minutes.

Free messy play sessions

You are invited to register for free messy play sessions. These are suitable for children aged 0 to 5 years (SEND kids up to 8 years).

Sessions take place from 10 to 11.30am at St Joseph's Church, Roehampton, on the following dates:

Alton residents invited to get moving from Couch to 5K

Residents of the Alton Estate in Roehampton are being encouraged to take their first steps towards fitness by joining the NHS Couch to 5K initiative.

This free and accessible programme is designed to help beginners gradually build up their running ability, making it a great way to improve health and wellbeing.

Taking part is easy – simply download the Couch to 5K app and let us know you’re getting involved by calling 07903 927479 or emailing bugbearworkshops@gmail.com. Participants who sign up will receive additional support to stay motivated and on track throughout their journey.

This initiative is part of Wandsworth Moves Together, the council’s leisure strategy, which is committed to creating estate-based physical activity programmes that deliver affordable and accessible opportunities for residents. The Alton Estate pilot is the first of many initiatives aimed at making it easier for people to lead active and healthy lives.

Chantelle's Community Kitchen

Free pre-packed, nutritious, homemade meals to take away or eat in (donations appreciated if you feel able).

Chantelle’s Community Kitchen always welcomes new volunteers, with or without cooking experience. There are a variety of roles to fill in the friendly kitchen on Mondays and Tuesdays.

SW15 Women's Network invites you to a free weekly women's coffee morning.

Our coffee mornings provide you with an opportunity to take a break, meet new friends and find out what's going on in your local community.
