Ways to pay your council rent
You can pay for your rent by swipe card, online banking, standing order, Direct Debit or post as well as online and by telephone.
Online
You can pay online using your credit or debit card.
Telephone
You can call our automated line to pay.
Swipe card
If you have a swipe card, you can pay your rent with cash at a Post Office or PayPoint outlet. To request a Swipe Card:
- call: 020 8871 8987, option 3 or
- email: rents@wandsworth.gov.uk
You must quote your name, address and rent account reference number (starting with 250 or 260)
How to pay with a swipe card
- Present your card at a Post Office or PayPoint outlet, with your cash payment
- Your card will be swiped and your payment processed
- Your card is returned to you with your receipt
Direct Debit
Call 020 8871 8987, option 4 and we will take the information required. Ensure that you have your bank details available.
Alternatively:
- complete the Direct Debit mandate form to set up a Direct Debit, or
- order a print version of the Direct Debit form
Once your request has been processed, we will let you know the monthly amount and the date of the first payment.
Payment date will either be the 1st or 16th day of each month.
Online banking
If you are paying by online banking, you must quote your rent account number (250 or 260) as the reference. Our bank details are:

Standing Order
If you have a bank or giro bank account, you can pay by Standing Order. Payments will then be credited to your account automatically each week or month depending on your arrangement.
To set up a standing order, complete a standing order request form. Or order a print version of the Standing Order form.
By Post
Cheques or Postal Orders should be made payable to 'Wandsworth Council'. Write your rent account reference number (starting with 250 or 260) on the back of the cheque. Send to:
