Ways to pay
Visit Ways to pay Council Tax for guidance on the different payment methods available to you.
Reminders
Why have I received a reminder?
You have received a reminder, as you have not paid your instalment on or before the day it is due.
What should I do?
You must make sure you make the requested payment immediately.
If the amount on the reminder letter is not paid within seven days, you will lose your right to pay by instalments and the whole outstanding amount for the year becomes payable. You then have a further seven days to pay off the whole outstanding annual amount; otherwise a summons may be issued.
Second reminder
Why have I received a second reminder?
You have received a second reminder as you have missed another bill payment in the same Council Tax year.
What should I do?
You must make sure you make the requested payment immediately.
If you fail to pay this within seven days, you will lose the right to pay by instalments without any further notice and the whole outstanding amount for the year becomes payable. If you fail to pay the balance in full for the entire year after 14 days of receiving the second reminder a summons will be issued.
This will be your final chance, no further reminders will be issued throughout the Council Tax year.
Final notice
Why have I received a final notice?
As you have received two reminders, and have fallen into arrears for a third time, a Final Notice has been issued demanding the entire balance for the year.
What should I do?
You have already lost your right to pay by instalments, and if the entire year's balance is not paid within seven days a summons will be issued.
