Your skip licence application and responsibilities
As part of the skip permit application it will be necessary to have a bay suspension where this is required. A separate bay suspension form is not required to be competed.
Please note the suspension granted will be for the same reason as the licence that has been applied for and cannot be used for any other purposes including parking of vehicles when not in use.
Site meetings
For skips, materials and highways licences, a site meeting may be required before your licence is granted. This may affect the start date.
We will contact you to arrange a suitable time if a site meeting is necessary.
You must tell the enforcement officer if you spot highway damage before items are placed on the road.
We will refuse applications if the location is unsuitable.
Put the skip in the right location
The skip must:
- Where possible, be left directly outside the property from where the rubbish and rubble will be removed
- No longer than five metres and no wider than two metres
Display your licence
A copy of your licence must be available to view on site if requested by an officer of the Council.
Light the skips or materials
At night (i.e. between half an hour after sunset and half an hour before sunrise) the skip shall be lit by lamps. Sunset and sunrise times are given in national newspapers.
If you do not light the skip or get a permit, you may be fined up to £1000.
There are more permit conditions on the back of the skip permit.
You must read the full statutory terms and conditions.
